These boxes first appeared in the 19th Century as a way of entertaining the rich. These boxes quickly became excellent souvenirs for wealthy tourists. The boxes most commonly had a wooden carving or some form of art on the box from when the artist created the box. The art of puzzle box making spiked again in the 1980's to where the Japanese started creating these boxes for tourists and household decoration. This design is one of the most basic for a puzzle design and takes only a couple hours to print.
