Greetings All,
This is a brass catcher to be printed in TPU/flex only. It's a deep cut remix. Shout out to Mark206 for his PLA version. Ruger 22LR Brass catcher by mark206 - ThingiverseRuger 22LR Brass catcher by mark206 - Thingiverse
I wanted a QD or quick, easy mount/unmount option for which flex material seemed appropriate. If printing the “WHOLE” version there is no more hardware needed, just filament. If printing the “TOP/BOTTOM” set, 4 m2.5 bolts are required, but it still mounts to the rifle without any hardware. Holds about 60-100 empty casing before needing to be dumped.
Because of the scope mount on my rifle, I had to choose the -4mm option for the catch to align properly over the ejection port. I've included this one, a centered one and a +4mm option also.
I am anxious to get feedback on print settings for the “WHOLE” version. I elected to print with no supports. I believe this can be done without the bridges sagging, but haven't accomplished this yet. Still with these settings I am able to get a one-and-done complete, passable, fully-functional product:
N:215, B:60, H:0.3mm, Sp:50mm/s, I:60%, Su:No →3h22m for WHOLE, +/-4h for TOP&BOTTOM.
This was using a textured spring-steel plate. DO NOT print TPU on other beds without an interface material such as glue-stick.
Please comment with settings for better results. Higher Temps could be better for adhesion but not as high as 235c which left a weird finish and lots of stringing. (Can be seen in top section of mounted brass catcher.)
