Was inspired when I saw the amazing Star Wars Battle ship that iamDarK did as well as the Star Wars vs Star Trek that chemteacher628 did and all the other amazing self contained latching case games folks have done. Thought this classic 80's game would be a good fit for this concept.
For design I started with yanew's parametric toolbox design, exported out of Fusion 360 into Solidworks and did all the insert and piece modeling within solidworks. Printed on a Railcore ii 300zl. Programmed pauses in to swap out colors. Dice are 12mm Chessx.
I am including a test print "slug" for you to check fit-up of the pieces with your printer before committing to the long prints.
If you want to make compatible pieces, the key dimensions are as follows (Inscribed circle diameters)...
Outer Hexagon Inscribed Diameter: 12.3mm
Inner Hexagon Inscribed Diameter: 10.3mm
Height of base (3.4mm)
Please try to adhere to these dimensions for the base/interface portion so that all pieces are "compatible" adjust any fit issues you have on the board side (horizontal size compensation) using the test slug to work it out.
Of course use the test slug to check.6
If you like and make it, share your makes!
