I found the knobs on my wardrobe and drawers a little uncomfortable - if your hands are wet, you would struggle to keep hold on them, they would also be difficult for people with disabilities such as arthritis. So I designed some basic, but good looking knobs to solve this small issue. I also just love hexagons.

These work straight out of the printer with some IKEA furniture - Billy cabinets, Kallax drawers, Eket glass door (IKEA screws 114667, 100412). I'd assume they work with many standard knob attachments.

Technical Information

Recommended printing settings:

  • Layer height: 0.15 mm or lower
  • Nozzle size: 0.4 or lower
  • Material: PLA
  • Supports: None
  • Brim: Yes

Mounting the knobs:

  • The hole's diameter is exactly 3.5 mm. An M3 (#4 in the US) woodscrew is best. I used the pre-existing IKEA wood screws from my Billy cabinet. If you use a wider or narrower screw, scale the knob in XY directions.
  • maximum threading depth - 19 mm (¾ "). If you have a longer threaded screw, scale the knob in the Z axis.

Beware that the inside of the knob will be "damaged" after threading - just like regular wood knobs. They can be mounted and unmounted many times before turning loose.
