A great desk decoration for any (car) mechanic! Perhaps a good gift idea for your favorite mechanic?
I designed this trophy as a thank you gesture for a friend who helped me fix some engine problems that I had with my car.
Required parts to print:
There is also an optional printable Connecting_clip that was meant to connect the upper edges of the crankshaft halves, as I didn't want to put a screw on the top where it would be visible and I didn't want to use glue. I think it is unnecessary and the existing screws hold the crankshaft halves together nicely. Since this is a very small part, you need to have your printer well calibrated for it to print nicely. You can give it a try, it worked well for me and clipped into the crankshaft perfectly.
I have included a Fusion360 file for the Nameplate. This file includes history for this object and within the sketches you can find a sketch called “Text”. By editing this sketch you can easily change the text on the Nameplate.
I have printed all parts except the Nameplate with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.15mm layer height on Prusa Mini. For the Nameplate, I have switched to a 0.25mm nozzle as the 0.4mm nozzle was getting a bit too big for the fine text. No supports are needed.
Required screws/bolts:
Edit: added a STEP file of the Nametag. You can try to modify this one in case you have troubles with the Fusion 360 file. I have also included a STEP file of the whole project for easier modifications.
