Welcome to Micro

A 3cm 3D Printed Full Range Speaker Driver

Developing on what has been learnt since FD51/FD52 series, Micro is a small compact 3D Printed driver which can play lower, play louder, and is easier to 3D print and assemble than ever before. It includes the following features:

  • Screw down magnet motors, eliminating broken capsule walls
  • Removable magnet motor, allowing it to be reused as many times as you want!
  • Single suspension design, reducing flexible filament usage and improving compliance

Micro has a nominal 4 Ohm impedance, and so can run from any up to date amplifier. It is a perfect companion for the PAM8403 USB powered amplifier. Check my other models to find cabinets such as the 0.4L and 2.0L circular cabinets!

Micro has had data (T&S) in 2 different filament configurations. These are:

  1. Colorfabb Varioshore + Polymaker Polywood
  2. PLA + TPU 95A

The 1st configuration is to extract the most performance. The 2nd configuration is for more commonly used filaments. The design has been built to make both options a great experience. The datasheet also shows the frequency response when fitted into a 0.6L cabinet. Frequency response is 100< 16,000Hz +/-5dB.

Attached is 2 guides. 1 for Assembling the Comet magnet motor, and the other for assembling Micro itself.

Comet is a £10 (+Shipping etc) magnet motor kit available to purchase, and eliminates any wrong purchases or issues. It contains the following:

  • 2x Ferrite Magnets
  • Metal parts to make up the Top Plate, Base Plate and Pole Piece
  • Glue
  • 4x 4.2M 0.17mm Blue Enamelled Wire
  • 2x 220uF Bipolar Capacitors

If you do not have a amplifier to run this project, a simple USB powered PAM8403 amplifier board will work just fine for Micro. I am working on offering a simple amplifier for this specific purpose.
