This test piece allows you to estimate the shrinkage of the material. The piece is designed for resin printers, however, it can be also used for FDM printers to estimate shrinkage and

You should print the test piece with regular settings flat on the build plate, let it properly cure, and measure it. Note that on a resin printer the orientation doesn't matter. There is a simple calculator to estimate the shrinkage based on 6 measurements of the piece: https://yaqwsx.github.io/printer-calculator/#/shrinkage It will not only tell you how much the material shrinks, but it will also tell you how much it overgrows by exposure bleeding.

The model comes in two flavors:

  • a regular model that you can print and
  • a model that serves as a pattern for making a silicone model. This allows you to estimate resin shrinkage when you perform silicone molding of e.g., polyurethane resins.

If you would like to know more, there is a blog post with an in-depth explanation of the problematics and the proposed solution.
