Mysterious Japan Joinery, it's hundreds of years old, yet it is sole example of that specific joinery.
It was found at Osaka Castle, which is over 400 years old. However, it was unique and how it was cut and assembled was a total mystery till 1983, when they used x-rays to figure how it was built.
I discovered it by this wonderful video below, which I looked for prints on this. It took me a while to find one.
With such plans, which picture is included here, I had to figure how it worked for a while, which is bit tricky. Picture was not too great on quality. Even now, I am not precisely sure if I got units correct, but what is important is that I could get parts working exactly as intended as in video.
I made it slightly loose at .25 mm clearance, for both 40mm and monster 400mm (same size as original!) and it works very well. If you feel your printer can do it, I have included freecad files so you can tweak clearance. I think 0.1 mm clearance should be fairly tight fit. It would mean all sizes related to connection would be 0.05mm undersized. Note all numbers is round before adding or subtracting for clearance. IE 80 mm - .125 mm
It's such a fun project, and I hope you guys can enjoy video and printing this. (Note: video is NOT by me.)
