The Cable Chains on the MP Maker Select V2 are not being properly utilized in factory form.
Chains need to be constrained, so that they ‘unroll’ gradually across their motion, to spread cable flex out along its length and extend lifetime.
In factory form, the ends of these chains are freely pivoting, which focuses stress on the ends of the cables.
These brackets reroute and guide the cable chains, for longer service life.
Note the end mounting links of each section of chain need to be unclipped, and reversed to face opposite direction before bolting onto brackets.
-while you have the ends unclipped, transfer 1 link from the vertical to the horizontal run (just snake it along the cables).
Also note that the horizontal run of cable now mounts to the Backside of the extruder head. The metal bracket that it normally bolts to is replaced with a printed part. the X limit sensor will also be remounted. as a bonus, routing out the backside adds clearance to the top of the printer frame.
Hardware needed:
3mm x 12mm bolts -length matters! don't want the ends to intrude into moving parts
3mm nuts with 5.5mm wrench flats
Re-use of pan head bolts already holding cable chain ends.
Sorry for the terribly hard to interpret photos. My printer doesn't live in a photo studio, and its not really practical to move it around.
