Updated Design 2022
The X-Axis Gantry on the Maker Select can be a little wobbly, since the span consists of only the 2 x-rods, with their ends only held in by 1 set screw each.
This Brace uses a threaded rod to help stiffen things.
xbraceLeft/Right share the existing bolt holes with the lower x-rod
xbraceClamp, clamps onto the upper x-rod (optional, insurance against the rod set screws slipping)
Metric Hardware needed:
1x 6mm x 320mm threaded rod (or longer)
3x M3x10mm bolts
1x M3x8mm bolt (just cut down one of the 10mm ones)
6x M3x16mm bolts
6x M3 Nuts with 5.5mm wrench flats
4x 6mm nylock nuts - or - 8x 6mm normal nuts (just double up and jam-nut them)
Install notes:
If you're careful, you don't need to dismantle much of your printer to get the brackets in; unbolt the lower x-rod and it has just enough room to slide left/right to slip each bracket over the ends.
