I've been working on this for about a week or so. I now have a perfect working prototype after my fourth design iteration!

I wanted to design a portafilter holder/base that blends in (almost) seamlessly with the profile of my mignon grinder. Something to keep my portafilter in place while the grinder spits out the desired dose, something to activate the grinder without any awkward finger maneuvers, and something to serve as a tamping base.

Because my portafilter is 54mm in diameter, and when paired with my funnel, the included fork holder that comes standard with the grinder doesn't really work for me(as it was designed to work with a standard 58mm portafilter).

Previously, I had to hold the portafilter in place with my hand and awkwardly try to push the button with my fingers, holding it in place until the grind was complete. Then I'd transfer it to a tamping base and do my wdt and tamping.

Now I place my portafilter on this base and push the portafilter handle in, which activates the grinder due to the design of the base. Now I wdt, tamp, and voilà! Simple as it should be!

The center of the base is hollow because you don't want any residual water to accumulate in the base itself, as it is a 3D printed object after all. I made it a straight hollow, which make it a good place to put a piece of kitchen paper to catch any drops of water, which I replace every few weeks. Just in case there are any water drops that get caught.

I printed this in 0.2mm layer height, 3 outer parameter lines, 20% infill, no support, and in PLA+.

No support is needed for this model, printed standing upright, with the base flush as in the picture and end product.
