I made a couple of these for myself and dad, but when my niece and nephew wanted one, I needed to cover the exposes electronics. It runs off of a 5v phone charger which is super safe, but I didn't want them to get cut on the solder on the back or possibly short out or break off an LED or resistor.
I designed the case to look like a computer monitor and cut a piece of acrylic to cover the front. I had to cut it up into multiple pieces to fit on my Ender 3 but I think it looks interesting as a patchwork of different color pieces. That effect was just from using a single spool of rainbow PLA and printing one or two parts at a time.
