I've had to build some stairs recently for a 2nd floor home construction project and had to insure that I was able to mark the rise (step height) and run (tread length) dimensions for each step consistently.  These markers did the job beautifully and allowed me to cut these stairs without trouble.  They are small, fast and easy to print!

They are meant to screw onto your square ruler and will serve as a jig to replicate your dimensions as you mark each step.

Other things you'll need:

  1. 2x M3x10 socket head cap screws

Tips:

  1. Fits ruler thickness up to 3mm thick. Scale up in Z if you have a thicker square ruler (and use longer screws).
  2. Heat up the M3 socket head screw (with torch or lighter), press screw head into knob for secure fit.  It is meant to melt the plastic features a little bit for a tight and secure fit.
  3. Print in PETG recommended, 0.2mm thickness, no supports.
  4. Print using a bright color.  Since these are small, you may lose them easily if they are not brightly visible.
  5. The hole size on the marker is sized to be self tapping to take the M3 thread, so no threaded inserts are needed.
  6. Of course, print a pair of each part to do the job.

Remember, you can earn some Prusameters if you post a pic of your make!  Plus, it would make my day to see it. ;-D

Happy Printing!
