This TARDIS is based on the idea this one. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:124033  but designed for horizontal and support free printability and glue-free assembling.

I hate when designers emboss their logo, but I like my logo, so I've put it inside. Is there, but it won't annoy you.

News

Since first published I added some enhancements. Please comment I and will keep you up with the news.

Printing

All parts can be printed with no support at 0.1mm layer  with a 0.4mm nozzle.

I like to print the visible parts of the glasses in the smooth side of the 3D printer glass.

Small TARDIS is 143x70x70 mm with 0.2mm clearance. Medium and Large are 1.5x and 2x but clearance stays 0.2mm

For the large one you should tune your brim settings cause the panels are almost 220mm (most printer beds size)

Signs can be printed in paper with a transparent 3D printed cover, or you can print the embossed version with 2 colors using pause and filament change.  Police Box sign can be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, but it will look better with a 0.2mm nozzle. The door sign needs 0.2mm nozzle for the large one and I cannot print the M and S in 3D.

Lamp glass should be printed in spiral mode, with bigest layer size you can.

Windows frames can be printed in white and glasses in transparent (or white/transparent) or you can print the all in one windows in white/transparent/white (see image)

Asembling

Put the glasses in the windows and the windows in the panels.

Join the panels by sliding them up/down

Put the base and the upper ring and press. If you need some force the TARDIS won't need gluing.

Top cover, lamp and lamp hat won't “click” when assembled. Maybe you need some glue there

Known bugs and to do list

  • Is smaller on the inside.
  • Door cannot open.
  • Top, lamp and hat will need threads to screw them and be a real glueless model.
