I remixed Tomsons spool arm portion of his MiniBear build as well as created my own spool holder which uses two skateboard bearings to feed filament into the extruder smoothly and quietly. I added a flange with an M4 screw hole to increase the rigidity of the arms and keep the spool from falling out. Currently the spool holder adapter is sized for a spool of hatchbox filament but more adapters are planned for the future. Works best with rigid filaments, I used Prusament PC CF.
I suggest using a filament guide that holds a PTFE tube in which the filament can run through such as: https://www.printables.com/model/46851-ball-joint-filament-guide-for-2040-extrusion
To prevent any tangling of your filament, be sure to secure the end of your filament by using the holes in the side of it's spool after unloading it from the extruder.
