A simple tool to safely release the pressure in emptied Petainer containers before recycling.

It seems that some people got seriousy hurt by puncturing these with a knife, which caused them to explode, so a friend came up with the idea and I designed this tool.

It seems to work with any type of plastic as long as you take care to print it according to the instructions.

Instructions for use: Hold the tool in your palm with the flat side upwards and the square part pointing to your wrist. Hook the lip to the rim of Petainer closure (the tooth should press on the red part now) and evenly press down the top side with your palm. The gas and possible beer droplets should now shoot out downwards from under the square part, so point it away from any clothes :)

Print Settings

Printer:

Craftbot original

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2mm

Infill:

50% or more

Notes:

This print needs to be mechanically strong, so increase nozzle temperature to improve interlayer adhesion, print slowly and use lots of infill. The supports are only needed under the little overhanging lip. I tested this with PLA and ABS, both seem strong enough for the task.
