Drywall Cable Grommet with Cap (Parametric)

In my experience cable grommets are expensive, hard to find, and never quite the right size, shape, or color for my needs. That means they're a nearly perfect use-case for 3D printing, because you can print the exact number, size, and color that you need on demand.

Each grommet and cap is a few meters of filament, and prints in around 30 minutes a piece for me. Any rigid filament should work well—PLA, PETG, and ABS are all fine. I do recommend printing with 3 perimeters and 100% infill (it's an easy no-support print).

I'm in the US, so I use a ¾" paddle bit to make a hole for the 15mm grommet and a 1-½" bit for the 30mm size. You can use the included Fusion 360 file to make any size you like, just set the hole_diameter parameter to whatever size you need for the internal diameter.

The barbs do a good job of holding the grommets in drywall. I just drill a tight-fitting hole, push the grommet in, and then apply bit of rotary pressure (like you're trying to turn it in the wall) just to make sure it's firmly wedged in place. After you route the cables through the cap it should just clip right over the face without much force.
