A smart & strong mini minimalist wall hook for the home or office. Features a 2 part design for concealed screws. Tested in ASA up to 5KG of weight for over a week (1).

Filament Types Recommended
I personally recommend ASA for the best performance however PLA, PETG, ABS & ASA will all be fine. Go carbon-filled polycarbonate if you're fancy like that 👍

How many meters of filament are used?
Anywhere from 4.5 to 4.98 depending on your extrusion multiplier, wall count, infill etc

Recommended Print Settings
I recommend the following settings for under 5-meter printing

  • 20% Gyroid Infill
  • 2 Perimeters
  • no supports (the design will bridge just fine)
  • 6 top layers, 5 bottom

For the strongest performance (but over 5meters), I recommend

  • Print in ASA or PC
  • 50% Gyroid Infill
  • A modifier box placed on the bottom half of the top part with infill set to 100% for max strength (see photo below).
  • 3 perimeters
  • 6 top layers
  • 5 bottom
  • Print 5 degrees higher than normal for maximum adhesion.

What do you need?

  • 1x M3 x 6mm Socket Head Screw
  • 2x 3.5 x 20mm Countersunk screws - I use Turbodrive Torx in the UK
  • 1x M3 heat-set insert
  • 5m of your finest sample filament or the last few meters of a spool. Or a whole spool if you need lots of them!
  • Soldering iron for the heat-set insert
  • A drill/impact driver/electronic screwdriver with the correct fitting for your screws.

Build Guide
1. Print the printable parts!

2. Gather the equipment, screws and a nice bit of wall for your new hook!

3.  Find the bottom hook part and place your heat-set insert onto the hole at the top

4. Using a soldering iron, insert the heat-set insert into the bottom part and ensure a flush fitting.

5. Using the 2 countersunk wall screws, attach the bottom part to your wall of choice (or door if you want). I've used a piece of test MDF for this as an example for the guide. Do not overtighten as this could crack the plastic.

6. Find the top hook part and slide it over the bottom part. The fitting should be fairly tight but still allow movement.

7. Find your M3 x 6mm socket head screw and place it into the hole at the top of the hook. This should line up with your heat-set insert.

8. Screw the M3 x 6mm screw in but again, do not overtighten! This screw is just designed to secure both parts as one.

9. Find something to hang on your new hook and bask in the magnificence of its simplicity!

…obviously don't attach yours to a small bit of test MDF… unless you want to 😅 More examples of this hook are available in the photos.
