Fall Leaves Lantern

LED Tealight or Votive Candle Holder

Fall, Thanksgiving Decoration

This is a 100x60x60mm LED Tea light or votive lantern.

Layers of fall leaves are stacked inside a framed panel, with 4 panels and a base a lantern is created.

Easy print, easy assembly.

I used yellow at 0mm, orange at 1mm and matte brown at 2mm changing out the filament to create a 3 color look in the leaves.

I colored the matte brown frame and edge of base with brown marker to make them darker than the dark leaves.

This is another make in what is now a set of designs that include the Halloween themed; Stacked Pumpkin Lantern Stacked Bat Lantern Spider Web Lantern

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

Adventurer 3

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

No

Resolution:

.20

Infill:

100%

Filament: Various PLA See below

Notes:

I used a raft to get the thin areas of the panels clean. The panels are thin, only 3mm thick so they print as fast as possible with 100% infill or 3mm worth of shell for the panels.
Note that the 1 & 2mm layer pauses are what worked out for my printer before adding a raft for the panels. Your printer and slicer will vary, please be sure to check them in preview.

The base I did at a PLA fast print profile .3mm layer and 10% infill.

0mm - Gizmo Dorks - Orange (yellow)

1mm - Flashforge - Orange

2mm - Ziro - Matte Chocolate

Base - TTYT3D - Rainbow Multicolor (bronze section)

Post-Printing

Easy Assembly

Print 4 frames and the base which has a groove to help hold the panels square.

For assembly, to fit the base, each panel attaches left inside and right on end.

See previous design Stacked Pumpkin Lantern Assembly

Stick them together with double side tape or glue. I used Glue Dots 22263E Adhesive Glue Line, Clear. These or similar "craft glue dots" are easy to rearrange, hold well and are removable so it can be flatten for storage.

The groove on the base is meant to hold the panels inserted into it. I assembled the sides put glue strips on a couple spots on the bottom edges then tapped the assembly down into the base groove with the palm of my hand.

How I Designed This

Copy of a previous design with different clipart

I used my previous Stacked Pumpkin design's frame and base. Cleared out the pumpkins, got a leaves free SVGs file from varius google image search results. I did multiple rotations, resize and thickness adjustments until I filled in the frame to my liking.

Exported the base and panel into my FlashPrint slicer and setup the various print parts.

4 panels, 2 per print on my 150x150mm print area and then the base as a separate lower resolution print with infill.
