I mount my filament holder on the side of my CR-10 MIni, behind the right-hand side vertical extrusion. I also have a direct drive extruder, so I needed a way to guide the filament from the side, over the top of the frame, into the hot end.

I had a few 625ZZ bearings lying around but couldn't find a filament guide for the top of the frame that uses those. Taking inspiration on others I set off to create one on Fusion360.

Materials needed:

  • 2 M3x8 screws to attach to the 2020 extrusions;
  • 2 M3 T-nuts;
  • 3 625ZZ Bearings

If you decide to go the route of the PTFE tube, you only need:

  • 2 M3x8 screws to attach to the 2020 extrusions;
  • 2 M3 T-nuts;
  • 1 625ZZ Bearing
  • 1 PTFE tube of the length suits your use case

Stick the PTFE through the hole at the top of the arm, pop the arm in the bearing, and the bearing in the base.
