This is the original version of the Tapestry insert I designed, which holds only the first two expansions.  I posted a new design that accommodates all three expansions here.

*******************************************

This is an insert for Tapestry, including both expansions (Arts & Architecture and Plans & Ploys). It all fits in the base box with no lid lift, gives each mini its own custom-shaped home, supports vertical storage, passes the upside-down shake test, and supports sleeved cards.

My primary design goals for this insert (other than just fitting everything in the box - a challenge in its own right!) were to make sure that all of the landmark minis were arranged logically in the trays and, wherever possible, oriented so they are easy to identify. This meant laying down the minis so they could be identified by their sides as opposed to looking at them from the top down. There were a few exceptions where I had to take the top-down approach, but in general, you should be able to easily identify the minis.

I grouped the minis in the following trays:

• Level 1 Landmarks

• Level 2 Landmarks

• Level 3 Landmarks

• Landmarks associated with Technology cards, plus the Stadium and Monolith (i.e., the landmarks that may come out during the game, depending on the cards/space tiles drawn)

• Personal Landmarks (spread across two trays)

For the card tray, the cards go in the following order:

• Tapestry Cards

• Technology Cards

• Personal Landmarks

• Player Aids

• Automa Cards (and the related Score Marker Overlay)

• Masterpieces

For the minis, I attached bases that I purchased from the KlundKreations store on Etsy, but the bases available here on Thingiverse might work, too. If you try a different set of bases and they work, please let me know in the comments.

I usually like to provide better organization for the player pieces, but in this case, I wasn’t able to make that happen due to the space constraints. However, I was able to make each tray support its own science die (including the larger one that comes with Arts & Architecture) plus an extra set of combat dice for each player.

This was a beast to create, and I am hoping someone clever will come along and figure out an even better way to organize the box. I posted the source OpenSCAD files so you can give it a go if you’d like. The hardest part was making each individual shape for the minis, but now that those are done, moving them around to create different tray structures is fairly easy.

To achieve the insert as pictured, print five of the player trays and one of everything else. The photos show how to layer everything in the box. Place the manuals, game board, and original landmark board on top of the trays. I have a different bag I use for the exploration tiles than the one that comes with Plans & Ploys. I believe the P&P bag should fit in the bag tray I created, but if not, it should fit flat on top of the manuals before closing the lid.

Update January 8, 2022: Please check your box dimensions. The trays span a footprint of 286 mm by 286 mm. I am aware of at least one person who has a Tapestry box that is slightly smaller and it made for a very tight fit for this insert. In case others have this issue, I created a set of files with "Reduced" in their names. If your print these instead of the versions that say "Final" in the name, the insert should span 284 mm by 284 mm instead of the square 286 mm. If you have any issues with the reduced-sized trays, please let me know. I had to reorient some of the landmarks in those trays to reduce the size, so some will look different than the photos I posted, which are of the original versions that have "Final" in the name.

Update January 12, 2022: I uploaded two corrected trays (the trays with "v2" in their names) to address two issues noted by users regarding the treasury and library spaces not being large enough for the minis that came in their copies of Tapestry.

Update February 26, 2022: A user asked if the insert could fit the round landmark token shields sold by BoardToBits on Etsy. They would not fit in the original organizer based on the dimensions provided. I created a modified version of the tray that holds them and it should now work with those bits. To fit those tokens with the shields, I had to remove a thumbhole that helps get the tray out of the box. If you are not using the token shields, I recommend printing the original Tapestry Space Tiles & Landmark Markers (Final) file. If you want to use the token shields, print Tapestry Space Tiles & Landmark Markers for BoardToBits Rings (Final).

Update October 27, 2022: A user reported that his skyscraper had a wider section that did not fit in the insert. He provided measurements, so I widened that portion in the file called "Tapestry Minis - Seven Personal Landmarks (Final - Revised Skyscraper)." I'm posting this here in case this is an issue common to newer printings of Tapestry. If you run into issues with the fit of your minis, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to make adjustments like this.
