Curved guide which snaps onto the acrylic top frame of the Anet A8 to help the X cable slide over freely.

My X carriage cable kept sticking when going over the edge of the frame, so I made this guide to help it pull over more smoothly.

I was getting inconsistent bed leveling due to this issue because the pull of the cable was causing the sensor to move a little bit. With this guide, the cable can move freely as it's being pulled by the extruder.

I measured the frame width to be 8mm, and this piece has a gap of 7.8mm so that it gets a good fit. It goes down just far enough so that it stops right above the LCD board and back plate.

Category: 3D Printer Parts Print Settings

Printer Brand: Anet

Printer: A8

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: .2

Infill: 10

Notes:

Print two end pieces and as many guide pieces as you need to fill the edge. On my printer, 2 end pieces and 5 guide pieces will fit.

I printed these models vertically because I wanted the layer lines to go in the direction the cable would be sliding. I printed the standard 25mm pieces with only a skirt for bed adhesion. If using a brim, make sure to trim it well, or else it might not fit. It could also be printed just fine laying flat as in the .stl.

If you want the guide to be one long piece instead of 25mm segments, just scale it on the Y axis to be as long as you want.
