This Garmin G1000-like Flight Display is the free V1 version of the FlightSimDIY design, as available on the FlightSimDIY Discord.
It includes the complete mechanical design of the G1000 NXI Bezel by FlightSimDIY. Some further upgrades have been added by me to print the design on a regular FDM printer, especially regarding the keys, and to simplify the build, namely the fixture for the LCD.
The printed dual encoders included here are modified to compensate for the differences in bezel thickness and give sufficient room for the display.
Please visit the Discord to find a lot more cool stuff from the G1000 community, especially some alternative designs for different encoders and 3D printers.
Besides the 3D design, the most important component is the electrical set-up, for which I have created a complete and comprehensive PCB design. The design files, part list and corresponding Arduino-based firmware can be found in GitHub https://github.com/MartinRusk/G1000. There you find also pre-sliced 3MF files using two color printing for the text on buttons and bezel.
Rafts: Yes
Supports: Yes
Resolution: 0,2
Recommended Filament: FilamentPM PLA+, black/white
Print the bezel with ironing enabled on all surfaces to achieve a nice finish without the need for painting. For the text, change the filament colour to white for the top two layers only.
It is possible to make the bezel translucent and use backlighted keys. If this is desired, please refer to the Discord.
