I started a quick remake of this excellent design by dutchmogul only because having facets on a round object is a pet peeve of mine.
Then, I thought, while I am at it I might as well make it print better without supports. So I made the head more tear drop shaped.
Finally, I figured that making it all screw together would end up more stable and strong so I added threading. Best to still glue it before handing it to a child.
Print the Head:
Pause at 50mm or so to toss in the rattle bits.
.2mm Layer - 0% infill - 4+ shells (thicker = stronger) - Support only under the center where it meets the handle.
Print it SLOW with 100% filament cooling fan or it will curl up while printing and cause problems. I did it at 50% of my normal printing speed. YMMV
Pommel:
.2mm Layer - 3-4 shells is fine with 25%+ infill - Support only under the center where it meets the handle.
Handle:
.2mm Layer - 3-4 shells is fine with 25%+ infill
I bumped the infill up on the pommel and handle pieces because I expect it to be abused.
