With the addition of

  1. 2 x CR2016 3v Batteries

  2. Paperclip (or 1.25mm wire) for battery contacts

  3. Micro toggle switch

  4. 4 x spectacle size screws

you can get rid the USB lead for power and run cableless. (Some additional small lengths of wire might be needed to extend the wiring but can be harvested from the USB cable)

It works by removing the "twig" bit and it's extender from the original mount and wiring up through the switch with the original resistor onto the Clip Compartment. The lid is then held in with the 4 screws. The 2 x CR2016 batteries go on top of one another in the coin holder.

I designed it for my SteelSeries Arctic 5 headset but should work fine with most headphones

The Coin Battery holder part is a modified version from one I found on Thingiverse by NotSoSolid, I added some channels for the paperclip/wires to run through on the bottom allowing it to sit flat in the compartment.

  1. Soldered the negative end of the battery terminal directly to the black negative wire going to the LEDS.

  2. Solder the resistor to the positive end of the battery terminal and then solder the other end of the resistor to the switch.

  3. Solder the red wire to the LEDs to the other terminal on the switch.

  4. Make sure to insulate properly, I used heat shrink sleeving.
