I remixed the original dust cover to be used as a spacer underneath the dual Z-steppers on the Prusa mini bear mod.

Originally, I found it hard to do any maintenance on the printer and doing a simple tear down of the z and x axis was a pain because the Z motors were hard to remove if you have them touching the extrusion directly.

How to install:

  1. Simply slide this cover over the bottom of the motor, position the motor in place.

  2. Tighten one screw on the motor mount so there is some resistance and it can hold its place on the rail but is able to slide with some force. Slide the mount down until it is snug over the top of the motor.

  3.  Remove the bottom spacer and while pressing the mount against the extrusion to ensure it doesn't move, wiggle the motor out of the bottom of the motor mount.

  4. Finish tightening the three screws holding the motor mount onto the extrusion.

  5. Slide the motor in and up into the mount and fasten the four screws to hold it in.

  6. The spacer should be able to slide under the motor and be snug in place.

Any time you need to do maintenance and remove a motor, just slide the spacer out, undo the screws and push the motor down and out of its mount (after releasing it from the lead screw nut connecting it to the X-axis).
