Print instructions

I printed the number rings like this: https://www.instructables.com/id/Poor-Mans-MMU-Multicolor-Printing-With-Single-Extr/

If you're using PrusaSlicer, import the base.stl file, and choose the "split to objects" button in the top menu, and assign a different extruder for the numbers and background.

I recommend printing the darker color first. If the background is a dark color, use a very opaque contrasting color for the numbers, as they're only 0.4mm thick.

I was able to minimize the white plastic stress line by first removing the print from the build plate, turning the bed temperature up to about 68c, and letting the part warm back up before bending them.

It printed fairly tight for me, but I'd recommend adding a drop of glue at the joints, especially at the end of the loop, to prevent them from opening up in the future.

Updates

  • 2022-06-10: Added separate STLs for ring numbers and the ring for slicers without easy access to split to parts.
  • 2020-01-28: Fixed reversed ring direction. Sorry!
  • 2020-02-04: Increased base size because folding up the rings increases their dimensions a little bit. Switched indexing pins to add much better positive lock.
