A two piece design allowing you to use a Kiev TTL viewfinder on a Lubitel 166. This is so much nicer using this than the horrible waist level finder and even has a built in meter!
This took many many reiderations with it being remodeled over 20 times with roughly 10-15 test prints- that's $20 in filament I'm never getting back.. It is not fully completed to where I would like it to be, and may revised even further in the future. Keep in mind that the design is not perfect but works. Film from the camera shows no abnormalities as a result of using this viewfinder.
Printer:
Artillery Sidewinder X1
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
0.2 or lower
Infill:
40%
Filament:
Ziro PETG / PLABlack
Notes:
Print top part upside down with supports. Recommended 40% infill or higher. Recommend PETG for long term reliability but PLA has not failed me yet.
After printing
Make sure to lightly sand the bottom piece around the edges as the fitment may not be perfect depending on your printer accuracy. Lightly sand the top part that the viewfinder goes into to make sure it is smooth. Do NOT force the viewfinder without sanding into it as you will either bend the viewfinder metal or break the plastic. Attach bottom part to top part with misc screws- I don't remember the exact diameter of the holes and used whatever screws I had on hand. Recommended to heat screw up slightly with lighter to get it started in the plastic to prevent the plastic from cracking as it is tightened. Put two smaller screws into the top piece and test mount the viewfinder locking it onto the screw heads. See if the screws need to be tightened to allow the viewfinder to drop lower. Done. Go out as shoot some awesome Portra 400 or Ilford HP5 knowing that you will nail the focus now :)
A lot of crying, coffee, and filament went into designing this part. Donation link for my struggle is listed not far below. Anything helps :)
