This battery retainer system allows your Nimh or Lipo batteries to fit properly in your Tamiya ORV chassis cars (Frog, Brat, Blackfoot, Monster Beetle, etc.) The side plates that come with the kits don't allow for the battery wires to pass through without interference. These retainer plates remedy that issue.
Do you have an older, vintage kit? You'll want to use Style A.
Do you have a newer, re-release kit? You'll want to use Style B.
You can fine tune the fitment of various battery lengths with a combination of the spacers placed between the chassis and the retainers to get the exact fit you need.
Why are there two different styles? The newer re-release kits have mounting posts that stick out wider than the older, vintage kits. Style B has a lip that that should point inside the battery area to take up that space as older Nimh batteries are shorter than modern batteries.
