After watching The LA Hobby Guy's video about adding colored powder to etchings I decided to have a go at a solution for one of the problems he discovered. The cooling fan for the laser head was blowing the lighter powders off the surface before the laser could ‘etch’ them into the material. This piece should drastically reduce the amount of air directed downward while minimally impacting the performance of the cooling fan.
The overall height of the part is 15.25mm so it should work for most laser heads that have a 40mm fan bolt pattern on the underside. There's plenty of room on the 10W Z1, and about 3mm extra clearance (over the shield) on the 5W.
This does require removing the red acrylic shield, but I've found it useless most of the time anyway.
