Cerebrah Soft‑EEG

The Cerebrah Soft‑EEG is a low‑cost, DIY, soft electroencephalography (EEG)
headband for recording brain electrical activity. Unlike rigid 3D‑printed EEG caps,
its electrode array is built from stapled nylon webbing and elastic band
segments, so it flexes to fit the head, packs flat, and is cheap to build and repair.

What it is

  • A wearable EEG headband that holds dry electrodes against the scalp at standard 10‑20 electrode positions.

  • Built almost entirely from soft materials — 50 mm elastic band and hook‑and‑loop (velcro) nylon webbing — joined by ordinary staples.

  • Electrodes are mounted through the band as a small "sandwich": a dry comb electrode on the scalp side, a 3D‑printed washer, a #2‑56 machine screw and nut, and a jumper‑wire lead, all locked together with hot glue.

  • Signals are digitized by a Cerelog ESP‑based EEG acquisition board, powered by a LiPo battery and a panel switch, housed in a 3D‑printed case that velcros to the back of the band.

How it works

The four fixed nylon segments (front, rear, and two sides) total a constant 48 cm; four elastic corner segments stretch to match the wearer's head circumference, giving a snug, self‑adjusting fit. Three crown bands cross over the top of the head to set electrode pressure. Each electrode's jumper wire runs to the Cerelog board, which streams the EEG data for recording/analysis.
