This is a functional and modern looking hydroponic vase which can be used for passive hydroponic methods such as Kratky's (or non-circulating/ passive hydroponic).

I designed this vase to be fast to print and leak-proof right out of the 3D printer (hence no post processing is needed).

In about 3h you can have all the pieces (vase, lid and netpot are all 3D printed) to start your Kratky hydroponic adventure.

This vase can hold 2L of water (a bit over 1/2 gallon) which should last about 3-4 weeks with no watering.

It was printed in ASA but I believe it could work in PLA too.

The vase was printed in vase mode (I know, no pun intended, if you use Cura slicer this is called "spiralize outer contour"), with the following settings:

Layer height: 0.3mm

Bottom layers: 3

Speed: 50mm/s

Material: ASA

Overlap: 100% (to allow for a tight seal)

Being single walled it is incredibly light (the overall weight is less than 50 grams), which also means very affordable (with 1 kg of ASA sold at about $35, 1 vase including all 3 parts comes to about $1.75).

To read Kratky's invaluable work refer to his literature here, where his non-circulating hydroponic method is explained in detail.

Thanks to Dr Kratky for sharing his work with the community, his incredible contribution and findings in the field of hydroponics already have had an incredible impact on how vegetables are being grown across the world without the use of electricity.
