"The Connector" V1.3 – Upgrade

This is the first major upgrade of my modular The Ring/Connentor connector system MXG_3.

Please use the original V1.0 page as the main reference for the basic system explanation, printing notes and general assembly instructions.

This model focuses on the new and improved Connector V1.3.

The connector is a modular connection system for air hoses and airflow applications. Like Version 1.0, this version uses a combination of a bayonet lock and magnets to connect two parts quickly, cleanly and reversibly.

Compatibility Warning

Important: Version 1.3 is not compatible with the old Version 1.0 connector geometry.
If you already printed parts from Version 1.0, please be aware that they may need to be replaced or reprinted to work with the new V1.3 system.

Available Sizes

The connector is now available in the following sizes:

38 / 50 / 63 / 75 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 125 / 150 / 160 / 180 / 200 mm

Improvements Compared to V1.0

With Version 1.3, the connector has been completely revised:

• new parametric geometry, allowing cleaner design and many more available sizes

• the number of bayonet locking points now depends on the connector size

• improved airflow opening by moving the TPU seal further outward

• extended hose connection socket, adapted to the respective connector size

The most important difference is the new parametric base. This allows the connector to be offered much more flexibly in different sizes.

Future Compatibility

All future extensions and add-on modules for The Ring Connector System will use this same geometry. This means the connector geometry is now intended to stay consistent and should not be changed again with future modules.

I’m sorry to all makers who may already have printed parts of the older system and now might need to update or reprint some components. I know this can be annoying, but this redesign was necessary to create a cleaner, more flexible and more future-proof connector system.

Note to the Printables / Prusa Team

I am publishing this as a new model because The Ring Connector V1.3 is a completely redesigned version, especially from a construction and geometry point of view.

Although it is based on the same general system idea as Version 1.0, the connector geometry, bayonet system, seal position and size logic have been fundamentally reworked.

The underlying 3D model has also been newly created as a fully parametric design, unlike the first version. This allows the connector to scale properly across different sizes and keeps the geometry consistent for future extensions and add-on modules.

Therefore, I consider this a new model rather than just a small update to the original upload.
