When we bought our used Camplet, it was immediately apparent that we need to enhance the load rack on it so we could utilize it better for our camping equipment.
I went looking for some cheap but tough load bearning material, which I found in the IKEA Boaxel wall uprights. From there I designed a suitable mounting bracket, printed in TPU to allow it to slip over the already existing Camplet rack members.
Printing
I used a semi-rigid TPU type for this, but any TPU type material could be used. I leave it up to you how many outer layers and what type of infill to use, as it differs on the material you use. I do recommend keeping it stiff, rather than floppy/squishy. Remember, you are going to use this to connect to cross members that will ultimately bear some weight.
Assembling
Simply buy your required amount of Boaxel wall uprights, I bought 4x2 meter ones. I then dry fitted them to find out which mounting holes I could still utilize and which I would need to drill, as well as I had to shorten them a bit to get a good fit.
Then it is just a matter of measuring them up and drilling the necessary holes. Drilling can be slightly difficult as the drill may catch on to the Boaxel material, so I recommend starting with a small drill and go bigger each time until you have reached your desired hole width.
I used bolts with self-locking nuts to securely fasten the cross members.
