I was using a cardboard box as a spray booth for my airbrush the other day and, while it is acrylic paint, I decided I still might want to filter that stuff. This was designed around a 12vdc, 80mm muffin fan, but when I put it all together, my fan didn't have enough oomph to pull smoke, much less paint particulates. I found a blower fan in my fan drawer with over double the current draw of the muffin fan. That didn't fit my original design, though, so rather than re-design the whole thing, I designed an adapter plate.
Then, this was designed for m3 countersunk screws. Of course, I couldn't find these locally, so I found that I could drill the holes out to 1/8" and I was able to use 6-32 electrician screws. I'll give the sizes needed in both m3 and 6-32.
Depending on the version you go with, you'll need different hardware.
80mm Fan with Hood
Blower Fan
For either option, print[housing],[insert], and[tray].
The filter is a standard coffee filter (although I am thinking about trying pantyhose). Lay the filter over the tray and press the insert down into the hole, pulling the filter down with it as you go. Once the insert is fully seated, tear or cut the edges off the filter flush with the tray. Slide the tray into the housing and you're good. Be sure to check/change the filter as needed.
Check out the assembly photos if my babbling doesn't make any sense :)
[Printing Notes]
When printing the hood, it is preferable to print[hood_optimal] if able with 29mm brim to minimize the supports needed as well as the length of time needed for printing. If your bed's adhesion is spotty, feel free to print[hood_flat] instead.
