A guard piece to fit behind the front hip skirts of M09 Commander Leader. NB This is the RIGHT SIDE piece - you will have to flip the model in your slicer for the left side.

Due to the stiff joints, crisp edges, and die-cast construction, these skirts can (and usually do) dig into the paint on the thigh and lift it. This design is intended to make it a more forgiving plastic-on-paint contact with a bevelled edge, hopefully stopping (or at least greatly reducing) the chances of removing paint.

Designed to be a press fit, if you find they're coming out you can either adjust your horizontal expansion (or equivalent) setting slightly or use a very small amount of glue. Since these are not actually exposed to any direct, significant forces, though, it should be unnecessary. You may want to file or sand the edges slightly just to smooth them a little more and fit the shape a little better (I had to eyeball and prototype most of the measurements as calipers would not fit and I could not figure out how to remove the skirts).

As usual, the picture preview is of the penultimate version. The final version has a little better dimensional accuracy and a slightly modified chamfer, but is functionally identical.

Since these pieces are mostly obscured they don't really need to be a colour match to anything, but I'd probably use a grey, silver, or black just to stop them from standing out. At 0.2mm the whole model is just 8 layers tall so infill and wall counts are largely irrelevant. Using a smaller layer height is unnecessary, and thicker layers shouldn't be an issue.

I would advise printing this from a slightly softer material. PETG, PLA+, or perhaps a semi-flexible would be my recommendations. Regular PLA is still quite stiff and without proper post-processing (eg filing and/or sanding) may still readily scrape off the paint.

If using a heated bed than ensure that it has cooled down significantly before attempting to remove the print. These are extremely thin and will happily bend if you attempt to remove them too soon, making it awkward to fit them correctly.
