This is my beginning attempts at making a battery compartment for the Kevo series of Kwikset locks. My lock is Bluetooth and model 925 but it may fit others. (note, the black one in the pictures is the OEM compartment, the white one is the one I printed)

So far I have just made the dimensions and features and it seems to fit well, but haven't included holes for wires or battery contacts if that's what you're trying to do. Just channels in the prong parts where some nickel strip could fit in to make contact with the rest of the lock.

I'm going to try to fit Lipo/Li-ion batteries and a voltage booster to 6 or so volts and see if it will run like that long enough before recharge to be worthwhile.

I've also discovered that there is room to make this LARGER at the top where it sticks out of the lock... the cover doesn't press close up against it and there is empty space. So it could be made taller to accomodate circuit boards which may make it easier to fit the Lipos in the main part.

UPDATE: I've designed and included the DOMED version of this... it's larger than the original but, in my lock, there is empty space so it still fits perfectly. This leaves more room for circuitry.

I put in two old cell phone Li-ion batteries in parallel (1650mAh each), wired to a li-ion charger / step-up adjustable dc-dc combo board. Make sure the battery you use can output probably 1-2 amps without the protection circuitry kicking in... this happened to me when using one of my (many years old) cell phone batteries because the motor probably peaks over an amp or two when turning. Using two batteries in parallel worked perfectly.

Adjusted to 6v output seems to work great - the lock turns strongly. I also tested at 5v output and it seemed great as well, it doesn't turn slowly like dying batteries would probably because the voltage is not sagging.

UPDATE: So far it's been four months and the batteries aren't even half dead, so this is working GREAT. It works better than 4xAA batteries did and instead of buying more batteries, I'll just have to plug it in for a couple hours to charge it back up for another year of use.
