Edits April 18th:
The narrow baseplates are available now for armrests with 15cm / 5.9 inches width
I added two types of side adapters to plug into the plates instead of the side holders, adding the option of using the plates as simple trays.
The Gridfinity plate got an upgrade. I added some bins in wood structure (bowl, can holder and remote/phone holder). The plate now comes without the gap around the grid and fits 6x2mm magnets better.
Couch Buddy is a modular "wooden" armrest table for your couch. It's split into three parts so no print bed is left behind. The most important part: You can tune it to your liking - and your couch:
Pick your plate size by armrest width:
Wide for 25cm / 9.84 inches
Narrow for 15cm / 5.9 inches
Pick your plate style:
Classic: Keeping it simple
Compartment: Plate with cutouts for your stuff: Wide variant holds room for your soda can, remote / phone and small stuff. Narrow variant has one compartment for remote or phone.
Gridfinity plate and add-ons: Go full custom. These come with cutouts for 2x6mm Magnets, so you don't knock over all your stuff when the doorbell rings.
Pick your side parts by function:
Armrest table (side parts hold the plate in place)
Simple tray (side adapters plug into the plate to make it a tray)
Simple tray slim (side adapter that make the edges straight, quick print)
Make sure you print the plates upright, since the structure comes out the cleanest when its neither on top or at the bottom. Assembly is super easy: Just press the side parts into the base plate. Done!
Looking forward to see what you make of this design! I created Couch Buddy for an IKEA Jättebo couch with 25cm armrest width (9.84 inches). I used macrovector's free structure from freepik for the wooden look and perplexing lab's generator for the gridfinity baseplate and bins. Thank you for making your ressources available!
