More playing with wrecks :). I started with Da5id's excellent Rhino clone and added the hatch from OutOfStep's Ground Plunderer. Then I modeled the interior of the Rhino (OpenSCAD and Inkscape again), removed all the doors, etc. Then I based it (Blender), placing some of the hatches around and adding some damage, then dropped the pack off Garin's Space Marine in the dirt for good measure.
I'm honestly not sure how to best print this thing; open to suggestions. I'm going to try Meshmixer and see if it's supports look more promising than the Simplify3D defaults. I'll upload a supported model if I come up with one, or else I'll just rip some more overhanging parts off with more damage!
12/5/2015 Update:
- I've uploaded a new (unsupported) version. The prior (v9) version had a void underneath the rear hatch that was fine in terms of printing but totally unnecessary. This one removes that void and also cleans up the bottom surface.
12/3/2015 Update:
- The supported model still has some issues in terms of holes, but the unsupported model appears clean. I actually printed the supported version and just green stuff'd a couple of tiny spots, but you might want to instead start with the unsupported model and go from there.
10/12/2015 Update:
- There are a few small holesthrough the model that don't preclude printing but need a little work; I'll re-upload when I have a chance to work on them. If you're excited and want to print, though, go for it -- they really aren't a big deal.
- I've uploaded a version of the model with supports generated with Meshmixer. I've printed this! Not totally clean, but looks pretty good. I'll get some pictures of that up once I've cleaned it up a little more.
