Shmallow!

Shmallow is a case for the lily58 ortholinear split keyboard. A few thing to consider to determine if this is the case for you:

  1. It's designed for the lily58... duh.

  2. It's specifically designed for a wireless build of the lily58. It only exposes one USB-C port for the microcontroller (for charging and flashing). No trss/secondary usbc port.

  3. It does not expose the bootloader switch. I recommend having a bind in your keymap for going into flashing mode.

  4. It covers up one key slot on the board (the one directly under the microcontroller).

  5. It has no tilt. I would like to eventually make a tented version that's still as easy to assemble.

  6. It has no cutout for a display.

Assembly

Assembly requires (per half):

  • 5 x M3x3 heat-set inserts

  • 5 x M3x16 flat head screws

  • 1 x top.3mf

  • 1 x bottom.3mf

  • 1 x switch.3mf

Optionally, I've provided pad.3mf which can be used to adjust the acoustics/weight of the build. Printing it out of TPU yielded a "poppier" sound than omitting it. For my build, omitting the pad made the keyboard have a deeper thock.

The model is designed such that you can mirror it horizontally to print the other half.

I also suggest getting rubber feet for the keyboard. I recommend SKUF feet printed from a soft tpu or molded from silicone if you have the capability, but I left the model agnostic to feet choice on purpose.

If you're looking to get a lily58 to put into this case, I recommend boardsource. Not affiliated, just like what they do.

Feel free to comment or reach out directly with suggestions for how this case can be improved
