Pinewood Derby Car Violin

Made this pinewood derby car based upon a violin.

My son and I made this. He started the design in 123d and inkscape and then we moved it into viacad for the final version.

First we decided how to cut the block of wood and I modeled that in viacad.

Then we imported the pictures into viacad and traced the violin body and scroll in 2d and extruded them into 3d.

Then we subtracted block of wood to get the violin to fit on car block.

The violin trings were made from scrap filament.

The f holes and pegs were glued on.

The print was done on printrbot plus with gold and black 3mm ABS.

The car body was stained.
