Description

🇯🇵 京都へようこそ!  ⛩
Welcome to Kyoto!

Kinkaku-ji (金閣寺; 'Temple of the Golden Pavilion'), officially named Rokuon-ji (鹿苑寺;lit. 'Deer Garden Temple'), is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan and a popular tourist attraction.

It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the 17 Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. The temple is nicknamed after its reliquary (shariden), the Golden Pavilion (金閣, Kinkaku), whose top two floors are coated in 0.5 μm gold leaf. The current pavilion was rebuilt in 1955 after being destroyed in an arson attack, although its origins are estimated at around 1400 CE. (from Wikipedia).

Print Instructions

Suggested parameters:

No supports, tested.

Perimeters: 2
Top layers: 3
Infill: as low as 15%, lightning pattern

Split in parts for printing in full color without the need for MMU/AMS, although you can paint it on your own and add more detail to individual parts.

Parts are labeled accordingly and assemble easily, without need for glue, following the arrow markings and reference photos.

The roofs print flat, but should be curved in the corners, which can be done by gently applying heat and bending.

Two different roof versions provided:

  1. Simple - less parts, roofs can be printed starting with gold, then pausing to change filament to grey. Railings are sturdy for easier printing and bridging.

  2. Detailed - under-eaves with more details as separate parts, must be printed separately from the grey roofs. Railings are thinner and more discrete.

The phoenix weathervane is very small, handle with care.
