fitting the parts together
Required a while to remove all supports from the inner part, after which I solved the puzzle multiple times with a small amount of force going back and forth to smooth out the fit.
sanding and or resizing
I received a comment that someone required sanding to make it fit.
I'm not sure what caused this but rescaling the inner tube to be ~1% smaller may help with this issue.
