This is a ground glass shim for 4x5 Graflex SLR cameras with a lomograflok back.

To assemble this shim and adjust it to your specific camera, you will need four m3x16 screws, two m3x12 screws, and six m3 nuts in addition to the printed parts.

Your main ground glass will need to be removed in order to use this. I usually set mine aside and have a separate one dedicated to the shim I made. The original hardware that holds the ground glass can be kept in the original position while using the shim.

Assembly:

  1. Insert the six m3 nuts into the shim body
  2. Screw in the four m3x16 screws into the four base corners of the shim. It is ok for them to stick out the bottom of the base. There is plenty of room before the mirror below gets hit.
  3. Place the adjuster plate on top of the four screws
  4. Place your ground glass ground side down against the plate
  5. Install the mask on top of the glass. The orientation of the mask should be right justified for the vertical slice and top justified for the horizontal slice.
  6. Use both m3x12 screws to hold down the mask with the spring pieces.

Adjustment:

To adjust the shim, you will need a rear ground glass to test against.

  1. Place the camera on a tripod and level it. Aim the camera at something close and preferably flat like paper with text on it.
  2. Focus the rear screen. You should try and focus as close as possible.
  3. Reset the mirror and compare the top glass. Adjust screws until image is sharp
