This is my remix of ItsOnMyMind's design for a working bear trap keychain. His original model is from Thingivere if you want to check it out. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3769837
This remix is optomized for two elastics, any elastics can work, but for mine I used heavy duty orthodontic elastics. The type and amount of elastics changes the force of the snap.
For this remix I made the points of the jaw into triangle shaped ones so it would hurt less, lengthened the side pins, and strengthened the jaws.
I also adjusted the base so that the jaw could have longer side "pins," that the trigger would be centered on the base when set, and that it would be more durable.
For best results sand down the parts that will rub against each other.
I do not take credit for making the model, I only changed a few things through multiple designs to make it more to my liking.
Update:
Some people were having isues with the models in there slicer, so i uploaded repaired versions of the model. The problem doesn't show up on all slicers, but this will help.
For assembly you first put the two jaws together in a closed position and add the rubber bands to the divits. Next you slide one side of the jaw into its holes in the base, than compress it to fit the other side. Than you slide the trigger on sideways than straighten and enjoy.
