Description

What is the Paragon?

The Paragon V2 is a solenoid powered vortex fly wheeler that can be semi or auto depending on the set up. it uses the Neutron solenoid by Out of Darts instead of the FTW hyperdrive solenoid. uses standard 130 motors and pretty common fly wheels. almost all of the hardware can be found at  Out of Darts, and the rest at amazon. a list of hardware is in the file section.

Magazine/Disc Compatibility

What I've found works best is genuine Nerf brand Discs and Magazines. off brand discs don't really work due to the discs stacking too well. the 10 and 20 round mags from nerf work really well, the 40 round drum however is iffy on higher DPS.

Print Settings

All the Prints should fit on a 180mmx180mmx180mm (Prusa Mini) printer. below is the correct print orientation. I recommend 4 walls and 20% infill on PLA. the flywheel cage should probably be printed in PETG at a higher infill to take the heat the motor will throw out.

The rear Left and Right halves are kind of difficult to print. the will need a bunch of support where the solenoid, wires and mag release go. optionally you could print it upright but i have not tested it with that print orientation.

(Filament usage, and print time according to my prusa Core one)

Assembly Tips

For the most part, assembly is pretty easy. there are some heat set inserts on the Mag well, Near the Grip and the Battery housing. It goes together with M3x10mm across the whole thing. the only exception is the single M3x20mm that goes through the wire cover and motor cover, and the m3x14mm that hold the 21A switches in place. while putting the rev switch in the blaster, you will need to cut or bend the lever of the switch so it fits in place.

When Screwing in the solenoid in to the left and right rear shells, make sure the solenoid is evenly screwed between the 2 parts so it doesn't end up skewed left or tight. this can cause the solenoid to not fire.

The Wiring is pretty simple. it follows the same wiring diagram as most rapid strikes. the main difference is the 12v car blinker that makes the blaster full atuo instead of semi. it goes in-between the POSITIVE line going to the solenoid. follow along with this video, and it will get you there.

Credit where Credit is due

First to Buffdaddynerf for the original design. i really like the goofy ammo types of nerf (Ultra, Mega XL, and vortex). i already have a boom nitron, and so when i saw this i knew i wanted to make one, but was a bit disappointed when i saw the solenoid that the original model uses was sold out basically everywhere.

Second to Carius on YouTube. i originally found this blaster on his YouTube channel and loved the video he made on it

Misc.

If you make a Paragon V2 i would LOVE to see it so please post a make :)

and if you have any questions or concerns ill be more than happy to answer them in the comments.

Paragon V1 - A Nerf Vortex Flywheel Blaster
by BuffdaddyNerf (thingiverse.com)

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • Changed the solenoid to the OOD Neutron Solenoid.

  • Added room in the battery area for a car blinker relay to turn the blaster full-auto

  • (attempted to) add small details to make the blaster more aesthetically pleasing

  • split the cage and barrel to add PETG to the cage while keeping the barrel a different color
