Description

PDF

I designed these flexible grip pads specifically to maximize the unique friction and flex properties of TPU. Simply place the pad over any tight lid, apply a little pressure, and twist. The textured surface grips the lid securely, giving you the extra torque needed to break the seal without straining your hands.

Design Features

I’ve included two different shapes and textures to tackle any container in the kitchen or workshop:

  • The Circular Grip: Features a dense, concentric crescent-bump pattern. It perfectly matches the footprint of standard jars, ensuring even pressure and maximum surface contact all the way around the rim.

  • The Rectangular Grip: Features a directional, slotted tread pattern. The larger surface area is perfect for oversized lids or wrapping around awkward shapes.

  • Low Profile: Both designs are thin enough to easily flex around the edges of a lid, yet thick enough to protect your hands from sharp metal edges.

Recommended Print Settings

To get the best performance out of these grips, you want them to be as soft and solid as possible:

  • Material: TPU (The softer, the better! 85A or 95A works great).

  • Layer Height: 0.15mm for a good balance of print speed and clean texture resolution.

  • Infill: 100% (Since the model is thin, solid layers will give it the necessary durability, so it doesn't tear under high torque).

  • Perimeters: 4-5 walls to reinforce the edges.

  • Pro-Tip: Dry your filament! Whether you are pushing flexible filaments through a Prusa Core One or any Printer, dry TPU is essential to prevent stringing and ensure those grip textures come out crisp and functional.

How to Use

Just place the textured side down against the lid, press firmly with the palm of your hand, and twist. When they get dirty, just wash them with warm soapy water to restore their natural tackiness.

If you print one, please post a make and let me know which texture pattern works best for you!
