Description
52mm Spindle Adapter for OpenBuilds CNC
This model is a structural 52 mm spindle adapter designed for OpenBuilds-based CNC machines.
It was developed with a strong focus on mechanical rigidity, dimensional stability, and load distribution, making it suitable for real CNC applications such as light to medium-duty machining (wood, MDF, plastics, PCBs, etc.).
The design prioritizes:
Secure clamping of 52 mm spindles
Large contact area with OpenBuilds Z-axis / carriage plates
Reduced flex and vibration during operation
Compatibility with standard OpenBuilds hardware and fasteners
⚠ Important note:
This is a structural part, therefore print settings directly affect strength, safety, and service life.
Recommended Printing Settings (Structural Part)
Nylo (recommended) – superior mechanical and thermal resistance
ABS – acceptable for moderate loads
PLA – not recommended for long-term use due to heat and vibration sensitivity
Print with the part’s Z-axis aligned with the printer’s Z-axis
Avoid orientations that place main loads across layer lines
0.20 mm (best balance between strength and print time)
0.24 mm is acceptable for faster prints with thick walls
6 to 8 perimeters
Minimum wall thickness: 2.0 – 2.4 mm
Top layers: 6 to 8
Bottom layers: 6 to 8
Pattern: Gyroid or Cubic
Density: 40% – 60%
For maximum rigidity: 80% Gyroid
Nozzle: 240 – 250 °C
Bed: 100 – 110 °C
Enclosed printer: strongly recommended
Tighten mounting screws with moderate torque
Check spindle alignment after installation
Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat (>70 °C for PETG / >90 °C for ABS)
This model does not replace industrial-grade metal mounts.
Use at your own risk and always respect the mechanical limits of the material, printer, and CNC machine.
