Guards of Atlantis II - Full insert, deck box style

This is an insert for the phenomenal, Guards of Atlantis II. The insert components are designed to fit inside deck box carriers, the kind you’d typically see used for collectible card games (example). This makes the game easy to carry and quick to set up, and later tear down.

The insert consists of a handful of trays for core box components, and then a separate container for each hero that holds all of the components for that hero (figure + card deck + tokens).

FAQ

Q: Does this insert have room for sleeves?
A: Yup, you bet. My set is double-sleeved, KMC Perfects inside Dragon Shield Mattes.

Q: Will this insert fit inside the original boxes, either the larger 1st printing box or the smaller 2nd printing box?
A: Short answer: no, not really. This design isn’t meant to go in the original boxes, it’s meant for deck box carriers, the kind that players might carry collectible card games in. If you do want a design intended for the original boxes, consider my previous design.

Q: Can I store this insert on its side, or carry it on its side in a back?
A: No. Figures and tokens are held in place by gravity, so on its side you run the risk of things falling out.

Q: What size labels can fit on the “label shelf” on the hero trays?
A: Up to 12mm tall. I used a basic Brother label maker that comes with 12mm label tape, but that tape also comes in sizes as short as 3.5mm.

Q: Will this design fit the next wave of heroes?
A: It can, because this design is easily expandable into more, or larger, deck box carriers. I fit my 32 heroes into two 4-row carriers, but Amazon also has 5-row carriers.

Q: How much does this storage solution cost?
A: It varies, but let me share a breakdown of the costs for my own setup.

1. The bag - Game Haul Game Night bag $50
   NOTE: For a cheaper option, try their tote bag for $15. You don’t really need a padded bag since the components are in padded deck boxes.

2. The deck carriers - UAONO 4 row box ~$30 (2x) NOTE: I’ve seen similar options on Amazon on sale for as low as $18

3. The filament - I think I used a bit less than 1.5kg of PLA. Cost can vary quite a bit based on filament and printer settings.

Print everything below, the number of times specified.

• 2x Minion tray

Printer settings

1. .2mm layer height (though most heights should be fine)

2. 2 wall loops

3. 3 top shell layers

4. 0mm top shell thickness

5. 3 bottom shell layers

6. 0mm bottom shell thickness

7. 15% sparse infill density

8. Use lightning sparse infill pattern. Don't worry. It's strong enough and will save you a lot of filament.

9. Consider printing the hero trays in different colors, by complexity.
