I'm a big fan of Mordiev's hanging rubbermaid mounts, but didn't like the way that they had to be staggered to minimize wasted space. As an alternative, I've remixed the design such the individual pieces slot together, forming a row of hangers of arbitrary length based on how many you choose to print.

Print Instructions

  • Print 2x modular_rubbermaid_hanger_end, and 1 modular_rubbermaid_hanger for every Rubbermaid container after the first.
  • Very important: Prints should be done on end, as oriented in the model. I printed my original batch with the ‘base’ down and have slowly had to replace them as layer lines separated. None of those printed on end have needed replacement or indeed shown any sign of stress/strain.
  • I printed mine in PETG. ABS would probably work well as well if you have a printer that can handle it. I'd recommend against PLA given the weight they will be supporting.
  • modular_rubbermaid_hanger requires supports on build plate only. modular_rubbermaid_hanger_end does not require supports.
  • Recommend 3 perimeter walls.
  • Layer height shouldn't matter much since, if printed on end, the stresses are perpendicular to the layer lines. I recommend going as big as you can to speed up the print process, I made mine with an 0.8mm nozzle and 0.55mm layer heights.
